Steering committee

The main tasks of the Athena SWAN Steering Committee are:
  1. To oversee the strategic direction of the Athena SWAN Charter in cooperation with the main funders, ECU and the UKRC
  2. To select the members of the judging panels for each round of awards
  3. To provide expert input to the annual awards process
The Steering Committee meets 2-3 times a year.

We like to refresh the membership of the Steering Committee from time to time and are setting up a waiting list of potential committee members.  We are looking for people who can:
  • champion the scheme in the higher education and SET sectors and beyond, as the leading award scheme for female employment in science, engineering, technology and mathematics in higher education;
  • engage with existing Charter members and support them in their SWAN activities;
  • develop and direct the project in a new phase of consolidation and expansion;
  • provide support and advice to the Charter Coordinator;
  • identify and exploit additional sources of funding to secure the long-term survival of the scheme.
 
Applicants should have direct experience of championing gender equality in SET, preferably in higher education.  We welcome applications from individuals with diverse backgrounds.
