An all-day seminar split into three individual sessions designed to introduce
the Athena SWAN Charter for women in science, engineering and technology to the
sector and explore the Athena SWAN awards process. This seminar was open to universities
interested in joining the Athena SWAN Charter, and to those universities and departments
wishing to submit for an Athena SWAN award in 2011.

Early career staff in university STEMM departments need objective advice on research
and academic career pathways. There is a dearth of accessible, useful and practical
advice for individuals starting their careers and this Guide aims to fill that
gap.
